Elder Fraud Representation

The office was created by statute in September of 2006.

Warning: It has come to our office’s attention that some Alaskan elders have been contacted by unknown individuals purporting to be Michael Carbone. The scammer has called from an (855) area code claiming to be an Elder Abuse attorney wanting to represent them for various issues and will then request payment. Michael Carbone is the Office of Elder Fraud and Assistance’s investigator, not an attorney. Our office will only contact individuals using the phone numbers listed on this webpage and will never request payment over the phone. (855) is a toll free area code commonly used by scammers. If you receive a phone call from a phone number other than the ones listed on this webpage claiming to be either Michael Carbone or Beth Goldstein, please contact us immediately.

Mission

The mission of the office is to investigate claims regarding the financial exploitation of Alaskans 60 and older, and seek civil remedies on behalf of elders unable to bring a complaint without assistance.

Vision

The Office of Elder Fraud & Assistance is charged with addressing all forms of financial exploitation and coordinating related services for the entire elder population of the state of Alaska. Our goal is to ensure that every elder victim of financial exploitation who wants assistance: 1) Receives it from existing sources, and 2) Where other assistance is unavailable, to provide individual civil representation.
